Marseille Nightwalk by Google -> driving traffic towards seven digits within a single week.

In close relationship with MediaMonks, yellowBird, is proud to announce an new 360º project for Google: the Marseille Nightwalk. The Night Walk is a loosely guided tour through the streets of Marseille on one vibrant and beautiful evening. Night Walk starts you out in a small alley in the neighborhood Cours Julien and works a lot like Street View — you can look around in every direction and click wherever you want to zoom in or move ahead. In this case, a tour guide will introduce you to the city as you move along, directing you to look at art, landmarks, and gorgeous views, among much more.

The overall objective of this campaign was to have a positive and cultural impact in France.

Night Walk in Marseille was inspired by Julie de Muer’s ‘Sound Walks’ project. Julie wanted to make it easier for people to get to know Marseille and so she began creating a series of sound walks to guide visitors through her city using Google Maps.

Night Walk represents a huge leap forward in how Google Stories are told, by marrying film with an immersive audio-guided urban street-safari, marking Google’s first nighttime Street View experience. Where the film ends, the online experience begins, allowing people all over the world to explore the vibrant creative culture of Marseille at night. Hundreds of high-definition photospheres allow users to take a tour with a local guide, or explore the streets and stories of the neighbourhood.

In close collaboration with 72Sunny, Mediamonks and Google Creative lab yellowBird built the experience “the Marseille Nightwalk”. This never seen before experience have won dozens of awards including a Cannes Lion, Lovies awards and Webby awards.

Besides this Night Walk in Marseille hit a homerun during the first inning. In between the much-appreciated ABCs (‘awesomes’, ‘beautifuls’ and ‘cools’), surfers from around the seven seas were quick to call the experience “franchement incroyable,” “meravigliosa,” and “ale epickie!” The project also picked up shoutouts from Wired founding executive director Kevin Kelly, The Verge, Mashable and Buzzfeed, driving traffic towards seven digits within a single week.

We are proud to participate in a Dutch project: yellowBird shot the 360º scene that was used in the first interactive video clip of Ronnie Flex.
The times where we watched video clips on MTV and TMF are long gone. New technologies are taking over, and more and more research is showing that we are watching videos on our mobile devices.
So it’s time to explore the new possibilities. Check out the making of of the first interactive video for Ronnie Flex (in Dutch):

Emirates Carousel 360º

UK based agency Pulse challenged yellowBird to capture the journey of a suitcase from London Heathrow airport to Dubai International Airports.

The Surround Video follows the point of view of the suitcase as it travels across the Globe. The journey highlights the complex scanning systems and intricate Baggage systems that are behind both airports. Furthermore, it provides an incredible insight into the mechanics of modern flight. The whole production is enhanced by extensive use of CGI elements.

The Surround Video of this interesting journey of a suitcase can be viewed at Emirates Aviation Experience where it is projected on eight large screens.

IKEA – Make Small Spaces Big

yellowBird got invited by London based LIDA (M&C Saatchi group) to produce and develop a fully interactive Surround Video for IKEA. The concept is based on Making Small Spaces Big.

The challenge for us was to shoot a guided Surround Video tour in various small spaces. Interactive hotspots highlight IKEA products designed for these spaces and show more information on features and pricing once clicked. Localizations were integrated for England and Ireland.

Another great piece that shows the true potential of Surround Video.

Musa Okwonga | London Poet | Heavy Weight

yellowBird spend the majority of our time working with top Brands, agencies and Broadcasters in the world so it was a real treat to work on a non commercial project with Musa Okwonga, a writer, poet and musician based in London.

His Poem ‘Heavyweight’ was filmed in 360º by our London team across two days in Central London. We visited Camden, Westminster and St Pauls as well as the famous Turbine hall at Tate Modern to capture the breadth and depth of London.

The poem is brilliant and we all hope that Musa gets the recognition he deserves as a great artist. We hope to be working with Musa on similar projects very soon! Watch this space!
